As their Patrons, my wife and I are delighted to have this opportunity
warmly to congratulate the British Embassy Players on their Silver Jubilee. Since the Players were first formed as a small group
25 years ago, many boards have been trodden, words spoken and songs sung, and the Players now enjoy a considerable reputation in
the Washington area and beyond.
They can be justly proud of the goodwill which they have generated in
the course of over 100 shows, ranging from one-night presentations to the full twelve night run of the Music Hall. They have
sponsored the Ruby Griffith Award Competition to foster excellence in amateur theatre. And their success has enabled them to
donate over a quarter of a million dollars to British and American Charities.
As a result of all these activities, they have continued to contribute
to the strengthening of the close ties between Britain and the United States, and I am sure that they will go on doing so in the
future. We wish them every continued success in all their endeavours for the next twenty-five years and beyond.
